Brighton & Hove City Council launched the Dressed for Success Competition in conjunction with Metamorphosis Group in December 2011.  The initiative supports independent retailers with making the most of their window dressing during the Christmas shopping period and beyond. We were delighted to win the ‘Best Silent Seller’ last year for our festive window display.

When Rob Dawson contacted us about the new ‘Winning Window’ category this year for previous entrants, we jumped at the chance to enter again with our Union Party Season window. The autumnal, colourful installation was unveiled in November, (see the blog

After a break whilst some subtle tweaks have been made to our website, our blog is happy to be back up and running and what better way to re-launch it than with news of our latest little collaboration!

Our new party season-themed window features a colour-popping dress constructed from leaves, seemingly swept up by the wind, and accessorized with some of our jewellery - featuring Lara Bohinc cuff, Dorus Mhor necklace, Bex Rox cuff and Anabel Campbell necklace. Red Design, who created the Union brand, collaborated with talented designer, Kyle Bean, on this inspiring project which was lovingly constructed over a...

Paris-based jewellery label, Mallarino, was set up in 2007 by native Colombian Lucia Bueno-Mallarino. It is an eye-catching blend of European sophistication and meticulous filigree craftmanship. Filigree is a very delicate form of jewellery metalwork whereby twisted or stitched threads of gold and silver are hand-sewn and soldered together to form an object or motif. We love the exquisite detail of Mallarino's jewellery - it is clear that a lot of hard work and love goes into each piece which is designed by Lucia herself and made by local artisans in Columbia. Preserving the beautiful tradition of hand-sewing jewels is of...

Last Wednesday we donned our gladrags and attended the UK Jewellery Awards Shortlist party at The Orangery on Cavendish Square in London. Lots of fantastic designers and brands were there and we were really pleased for one of our stockists, Assya London, who made it onto the Boutique Retailer of the Year Award shortlist.

Assya London is located in Notting Hill and was set up by Italian sisters Tessa and Ninfa Grazzini. Head Designer, Tessa, has travelled the world extensively, drawing inspiration from art, different cultures, landscapes and women of the world. Ultra feminine, elegant and timeless are the...

Swedish watch enterprise, Triwa, has collaborated with French street artists, Supakitch & Koralie. We love the way their work has now brought a touch of oriental magic to Triwa's bold, colourful accessories.

Supakitch and Koralie are two street artists from France who have a mutual passion for art and are both heavily influenced by comics and Japanese Manga. This comes across in their beautiful artistry, showcasing images of geishas, dragons and other elements of the culture. As well as their collaboration with Triwa, this talented duo have also broken into the vinyl toy industry and launched their own label,...

Spring seems to have sprung (we hope!). The arrival of beautiful parcels of new stock for this season is an exciting time for us. A Peace Treaty's Thar and Tin Hanan collections were incredibly popular with our customers so we are really looking forward to showcasing the new season's designs.

A Peace Treaty was established in 2008 -  a unique pact between Farah Malik, a Pakistani Muslim, and Dana Arbib, a Libyan Jew who realised they shared a love of high fashion and disappearing crafting traditions. They are inspired by the hand-crafting cultures of the Middle East, Asia, South America and Africa and work with...

Liz Bloom created Dorus Mhor in 2010, after completing a Fine Art degree in Sculpture and fuelled by a lifelong fascination with ornate tweed. Liz stumbled across us on a visit to Brighton very soon after the store opened and we were really impressed by her enthusiasm and dedication to getting her first collection off the ground. Now based in Chicago, she took some time out from her hectic schedule of house-hunting and settling in to answer a few burning questions from us!

Q: Describe your best trip ever?

A: Six months of backpacking with my fiancé around South East Asia, starting in the jungles of...
